Beijing (CNS) – China's advertising turnover hit 300 billion yuan in 2011, ranking it among the top in the world, according to an official source on Tuesday, and China has renewed its efforts to crack down on false advertising.

Zhou Bohua, Secretary of the Chinese State Administration for Industry and Commerce, said at a working conference that in 2011 they have investigated 41,900 cases of illegal advertising, and levied fines or confiscated capital worth 260 million yuan.

Zhou said the 2012 anti-false advertising campaign will continue to concentrate on several areas: advertisements that harm people's health, kinds that contain vulgar content, and claims that pose risks to, or adversely affect, the bodies or minds of teenagers.
