Taichung (CNS) – Beijing mayor Guo Jinlong and his delegation donated nine buses to minority groups in seven townships of Taichungon on behalf of Beijing residents, February 19.

It is known some minority groups living in remote mountain areas of west-central Taiwan, especially children, endure long commutes; some schools have even adopted timetables blocking out two-weeks of school attendance with a five-day break at home.

The donated buses will be used to transport kids to school and the elderly to hospital.

"People across the Taiwan Strait should love each other and help each other." said Guo, "I hope we can find and offer other practical comforts to promote interaction and mutual assistance."

Beijing once donated four buses to two townships of Xinzhu County in 2010.
