Zero tolerance for tourist scams, says Party chief

Sanya (CNS) – Sanya CPC Party Secretary Jiang Sixian apologized on Wednesday for the defrauding of tourists by seafood restaurants, hotels and taxi drivers in Hainan Province's resort city during this year's Spring Festival holiday.

The government will adopt a zero tolerance policy toward the black sheep that harm Sanya's reputation as an international tourism spot, Jiang said.

The apology came in response to allegations made by a man on his microblog that "three common seafood dishes cost nearly 4,000 yuan," which sparked a wave of indignation from tens of thousands of web users.

Sanya received 485,000 tourists during the golden week of Spring Festival, many of whom claim they were overcharged.
