Nanjing (CNS) – The local government approved nearly 1,000 projects funded by Taiwan businessmen in 2011, says Wang Rongping, the director of the Taiwan Affairs Office in east China's Jiangsu Province.

The projects involve an investment of about US$12.5 billion from Taiwan, US$5 billion of which has already been received.

Jiangsu Province is home to 50 percent of China's Taiwan-funded enterprises – the largest-scale of investment by Taiwan businessmen in the country – with capital surpassing US$10 million, according to Wang. In addition, 19 local enterprises also invest in Taiwan, a number greater than many provinces.

Wang says the Taiwan Affairs Office will continue to offer guidance to over 20,000 Taiwan-funded enterprises in Jiangsu Province, supporting them in innovation and optimization.
