Xiamen (CNS) -- Xiamen Airlines has joined the global airline alliance SkyTeam as its 19th member, marking a new start for the airline’s international operations.
Che Shanglun, Chairman and General Manager of Xiamen Airlines, and Michael Wisbrun, General Manager of SkyTeam, signed an agreement in Xiamen on Wednesday.
Xiamen Airlines has been facing increasingly fierce competition in recent years, which has pushed us to expand our business and enhance international cooperation, said Che.
Our joining the alliance will also be a drive to promote regional economic development, added Che.
In the greater China area, Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Taiwan’s China Airlines have already joined the alliance.
Skyteam provides customers from member airlines access to an extensive global network, with over 490 lounges worldwide. It offers its 487 million annual customers over 14,500 daily flights to 926 destinations in 173 countries.
