The GDP of Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong Province surpassed that of Hong Kong for the first time ever in 2017 and became the largest in the Guangdong-Macau-Hong Kong region, according to media reports on Thursday.
In 2017, Shenzhen's GDP reached 2.24 trillion yuan ($353.05 billion), while Hong Kong recorded GDP of 2.15 trillion yuan, according to a report on news website thepaper.cn.
