TüV Rheinland and XCharge signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration on the EV charging market at the E-world Fair in Essen, Germany on Feb. 6, after the two parties signed a contract to test XCharge's products last December.
TüV Rheinland is the world's leading testing and certification organization, with more than 140 years of history. A market leader in testing photovoltaic products and systems, it has extensive experience in the product certification field, along with a top-class global service network.
Its certificates have a high reputation in the global market. XCharge is a well-known integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging solution provider. Its future-proof products, combining hardware and software, are highly competitive in the burgeoning EV industry.
The MoU states that TüV Rheinland will provide technical support on charging systems based on XCharge's target markets, as well as testing and certification services. XCharge will give priority to cooperation with TüV Rheinland in product testing and certification. Both parties will exchange technical know-how regularly and carry out market outreach to jointly expand the influence of industries in specific fields.
C6EU is currently being tested according to IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards, which coverall electrical, electronic and related technologies, and should obtain the CE Marking in March 2018. C6EU is the 2016 "Best of the Best" Red Dot Award winner. With a power output ranging from 50 to 240 kW, this DC charger can be customized to meet the different needs of family electric cars, electric buses, and mobile charging trucks. It also connects to an operating platform through cloud. Charging point operators (CPOs) can easily do over the air (OTA) upgrades, turnover management, remote diagnosis, advertisement pushing and so on, via Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP).
XCharge's AC Wallbox C2 and Satellite HPC charger C9 (with advanced Plug & Charge technology) will also be tested and are about to obtain the CE Marking in March and Q2 respectively this year. C2 is another Red Dot Award winner and can output 7 or 21 kW. Simialr to C6EU, C2 is supported by strong software and a multi-functional operating platform, but it targets a more budget sensitive customer. C9 is a DC charger with two separate compartments, the power box (its main body) and satellite chargers. They are connected by underground cables that allow chargers to occupy less parking space and allocate power smartly, while increasing power output.
XCharge's European branch, XCharge Europe GmbH, was established in Hamburg last December. Collaborations were established with local installation and maintenance companies to deliver professional services. Reaction time across most European countries will be within two to four hours. XCharge's landing in Europe will bring quality chargers and practical operating experience from China, the largest EV market in the world. All of these will significantly benefit current EV owners and CPOs in the region.
