Yu Daqin, hailing from a family in a village of Guizhou province, wore clothing made by her mother when she was young, but this meant the occasional shortage of new clothes. Now, with a clothing business earning her more than five million yuan ($721,390) each year, she has solved her wardrobe problems — and many others'.

In the early 1990s, Yu left her home to work in a coastal city, which helped her finish studies at a garment vocational school. After graduation, she went back to her hometown to start a clothing business.

Now Yu has employed nearly 20 people at her workshop on a regular basis, and the figure could go up to 50 in busy seasons. Meanwhile, up to 100 people who used to be workers in Yu's workshop got careers at brand clothing companies or opened their own shops over the past over 20 years.

The workshop's clothes sell in China and Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Thailand, earning 20,000 yuan per day.
