Streaming giant iQiyi announces new online education project

Chinese streaming platform iQiyi is looking forward to working with more educational institutions and renowned teachers over the next few years to explore the potential of online education, Geng Danhao, a senior vice president at iQiyi, announced at an education forum in Beijing on Tuesday.

To this end, the site announced its new Thousand Teachers project, which aims to help teachers present classes using new technologies such as VR and live streaming.

According to Geng, iQiyi's education channel has so far worked with more than 1,500 organizations to produce over 16,000 lessons in the areas of children's and vocational education. Geng said with the introduction of more quality content and the use of new technology, the channel is sure to grow into a major platform for online education.
