Electronics giant Sony officially announced new products, including two smartphones: the Xperia XZ1 and red limited edition Xperia XZ Premium, as well as a projector, the Xperia Touch, at the headquarters of Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com in Beijing on Friday.

On Wednesday, the two companies signed a strategic cooperation agreement, ensuring Sony will choose JD.com's online market as the platform for its new products.

The black edition of Xperia XZ1, a gift box with a vermilion limited edition Xperia XZ Premium, Sony's MDR-H600 headset, and other products are only available to sell at JD.com, according to Sony.

Sony added 3D scanning functions to its new flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ1. The feature allows users to make their own emoji packages with 3D effects. Users can also upload their holographic image to 3D printers to create 3D models.

The Xperia Touch projector gathers Sony's cutting-edge technologies. According to the company, the projector can transform walls or tables into an interactive touch-screen.

For example, users can play piano on an image that is displayed by Xperia Touch, after the projector has installed a piano app.

According to Sony, the projector will be on sale at the end of January 2018.

As a limited edition, only 666 units of the red Xperia XZ Premium will be sold globally.

JD.com has created relationships with several tech companies including Apple, Huawei, Sony and ZTE. They have chosen the platform to debut their new flagship handsets including iPhone 8, Mate 10, Axon M and Xperia XZ1.

JD.com will utilize its big data and advancing sales platforms to give reliable suggestions to business partners, helping develop products for the Chinese market and maximizing the partners' branding value, said Hu Shengli, vice- president of JD.com, at Sony's new products launching ceremony.

In the future, JD.com and Sony will cooperate widely and deeply, the man added.
