Nike China apologized on Friday for using a misleading product description to market one of its shoes, after a program on China Central Television (CCTV) accused the athletic apparel and footwear maker of false advertising.
In a statement posted on its official account on Twitter-like Weibo, the company said it had mistakenly used a wrong marketing material to promote the Hyperdunk 2008 FTB.
An annual consumer rights show aired on CCTV-2 Business Channel on Wednesday criticized a limited-edition shoe, initially marketed by Nike for having "Zoom Air" cushions, for lacking the air bags.
The company said it would recall over 300 pairs of such model and promised to give affected buyers a full refund and a compensation of 4,500 yuan (652 US dollars) within 90 days starting April 3.
