A 20-million-U.S.-dollar motorcycle assembly plant, jointly invested by Try Pheap Group (Cambodia) and Sichuan Grand Royal Group (China), was inaugurated here on Wednesday.

Cambodian Environment Minister Say Samal presided over the inauguration ceremony.

Try Pheap, president of Try Pheap Group, said the plant is capable of assembling 200,000 motorcycles per year, but in its first year, the plant will do only 100,000 motorcycles.

"The motorcycles will be supplied to local and regional markets," he said.

He said the plant created 500 jobs and the number would reach 2,500 within three years when the company increased its investment to 50 million U.S. dollars for production expansion.

At the ceremony, the company also donated a total of 228 motorcycles to Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Environment, National Police, Bodyguard Unit and Preah Sihanouk Provincial Hall.
