Over 200 representatives from German business and political circles, as well as Chinese companies in Germany, have gathered here for the second Sino-German economic dialogue.

The event which began on Thursday covered discussions on cooperation opportunities and challenges between the two countries, and greater cooperation potential.

Chinese Ambassador to Germany Shi Mingde said in his opening speech that the cooperation of both sides with respect to innovation has left room for development.

Good and stable relations were not the result of unilateral efforts. Currently, China is going through a transitional phase of industrial change, and in this context, the state is pushing for increased quality through technological innovation, Shi added.

Shi said China had maintained growth through reforms, while other countries were still facing major challenges.

China wants to deepen the dialogue on issues of environmental protection and social security, and to extend cooperation in third country markets in order to jointly overcome the challenges, he said.

Cai Zhengxin, president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany, said that Chinese companies were hoping they would be politically and economically supported by Germany in the future.

In the field of industry 4.0, Germany leads the world, while the needs of the Chinese market will give German companies a major opportunity, said Juergen Geissinger from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party's Economic Committee.

China's structural reforms are conducive to boosting the vitality of the world economy. The German side is willing to respond to China's need, he said.

The second Sino-German economic dialogue was jointly organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany and the CDU Economic Committee.
