Hainan Airlines announced a notice on Tuesday, which banned passengers and crew from carrying Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 on board, either in carry-on bags or checked luggage, according to an employee of the airline company, who prefers not to be identified.

Hainan Airlines was the first airline in China to roll out such a ban as of press time.

Previously, individual airlines like Dubai-based Emirates, -Australia's Qantas, and Japan Airlines have issued similar notices.

China was not included in the electronic giant's latest recall plan on September 2, which recalled 2.5 million devices sold in 10 countries and regions, following media reports of the devices exploding during charging.
