Macao will increase its non-gaming revenue of tourism sector to 13 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, almost doubling the current non-gaming revenue volume, the special administrative region's tourism chief said on Monday.

Macao's Tourism Office Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes made the remarks at a press conference to issue Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan.

According to the master plan's projection, Macao will receive at least 33 million to 35 million tourists in 2025, which will generate about 13 billion dollars in non-gaming tourism.

The plan says it will put forward goals and strategies in line with the SAR government's five-year development plan. Besides the analysis of the current situation of tourism industry, the plan will also propose short, medium, and long term strategies for the tourism product system, source markets, tourism branding and positioning, as well as urban development.

Some strategies and measures include the renovation of the Grand Prix Museum, hosting of the International Film Festival, creation of the Gourmet Capital, and introduction of top-class theme parks.

To support Macao's ambition to become the World Tourism and Leisure Center, the tourism office initiated the master plan project in 2015. The objective is to carry out a comprehensive study and to provide a guideline for the development of Macao's tourism industry for the next 15 years.

The tourism office will take public suggestions in next two months for further revision of the plan.
