Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei on Thursday celebrated the 15th anniversary of its arrival in Spain by promising to maintain and expand its presence in the Spanish telecommunications market.
"This country has been a priority market for our company," said Tony Jin Yong, CEO of Huawei Spain in a statement published by the company.
"We have worked hard for 15 years to integrate ourselves into the Spanish industrial ecosystem, offering our expertise and our innovative products, as well as cooperating with all of the agents involved in technological advances in Spain," added Jin, saying that Huawei had a promise to contribute to the long term transformation of the Spanish digital market.
Huawei has shown this desire by recently signing two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with the Spanish Secretary of State for Telecommunications and with the Information Society aimed at promoting the digital economy and developing new technologies.
Meanwhile the company has recently reached another agreement with the Spanish National Institute of Cyber-Security (INCIBE) in which both organizations promise to work for cyber-security in Spain.
Huawei has worked with nearly all of Spain's main telecommunications operators in its 15 years in the country, collaborating with companies such as Jazztel, Movistar, Orange, Vodafone and ONO and helping to develop 3G and 4G networks.
