The board of governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will hold its first annual meeting in Beijing on June 25-26, the bank announced on Thursday.

Governors and representatives from the bank's 57 founding signatories, along with invited observers from international partners, will attend the meeting, it said.

AIIB, a new global multilateral financial institution headquartered in Beijing, was formally established on Dec. 25, 2015, and started operations on Jan. 16.

Chinese Finance Minister Lou Jiwei was elected as the first chairman of the AIIB board of governors, and Jin Liqun first AIIB president. The board of governors will meet each year.
