China, Japan cut holdings of U.S. treasuries in October

China and Japan, two top buyers of U.S. Treasury securities, have reduced their holdings in October, latest data from the Treasury Department showed Tuesday.

China cut its holdings of the treasuries by 3.2 billion U.S. dollars to 1.2548 trillion dollars in October, the second consecutive month for its holding reduction.

Japan, the second largest foreign holder of U.S. treasuries, cut its holding by 27.9 billion dollars to 1.1492 trillion dollars in October.

Overall foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury securities in October dropped to 6.0463 trillion dollars from 6.1031 trillion dollars in September.
