CITIC Securities Co on Saturday denied rumors that its Chairman Wang Dongming had fled to the U.S. after eight employees of the brokerage were placed under police investigation, media reports said.
Rumors of Wang's supposed flight have circulated on some forums and social networking websites since Wednesday.
Wang is still at work, and he attended a company meeting on Wednesday, news portal sohu.com reported Saturday, citing an unidentified source from CITIC Securities.
Eight employees of CITIC Securities, the country's largest brokerage in terms of market value, have been investigated for suspected illegal securities trading, the Xinhua News Agency reported on August 25.
