The seventh edition of the trade fair of Chinese products in West Africa, kicked off Tuesday in Cotonou, Benin's economic capital.
Jointly organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Beninese Ministry of Industry, Trade and Small and Medium Enterprises, this fair exhibits Chinese products for sale in Benin and West African markets.
It also helps economic operators in West Africa to establish technical and commercial partnerships with China which could be mutually beneficial.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the fair, the Beninese Minister of Microfinance, Naomie Azariah said this fair strengthens economic relationships and trade partnership between China and African countries.
"This event meets a real need of African businessmen and also to that of the African population," she said.
There are about 150 booths set on the exhibition space, mainly concerning electronic and digital products, machineries and equipments, hardwares, building materials, office supplies and pharmacopoeia.
"Since 2008, the opening year of the first edition of the fair of Chinese products in Benin, over 340 varieties of products grouped into eleven categories were exposed with a turnover of 50 million U.S. dollars, 100 million dollars of purchase intentions and about 500 million U.S. dollars investment intentions," said the organizers.
