Airbus delivered 153 new aircraft to Chinese carriers in 2014, bringing the total number of in-service Airbus planes to more than 1,100, the company announced Thursday.

The company sold 128 of the A320 model and 25 of the A330 to the Chinese market, accounting for 24 percent of their total deliveries last year, the company said in a press release.

It was the fifth consecutive year Airbus delivered 100 or more aircraft to the Chinese market.

By the end of 2014, Airbus' Tianjin plant, a joint venture between Airbus, Tianjin Free Trade Zone and the China Aviation Industry Corporation, assembled a total of 207 A320s since it began production in 2008. They currently produce four aircraft per month, according to the press release.

On Thursday, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls visited the Airbus Tianjin plant before his visit to Beijing and Shanghai.
