Volkswagen, Chrysler and General Motors are recalling defective vehicles in China, the country's top quality watchdog said on Friday.

The affected 112 Volkswagen Beatles 2.0T were manufactured between July 10, 2014 and Nov. 1, 2014, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) in a statement.

Substandard welding of the vehicle may lead to fuel leak and cause fire hazards. The recall will start on Jan. 15, 2015.

The affected 3,369 Chrysler Grand Cherokee were manufactured between Jan. 5, 2010 and July 20, 2011. Due to defective power modules, engines may experience an unexpected stop or may be unable to start. The recall will start on Dec. 31, 2014.

The affected 80 General Motors Cadillac Escalade were manufactured between May 10, 2011 and May 13, 2011. Defective ignition locks may cause engines to stop, and the recall started Friday, said the AQSIQ.

The automakers will repair the faulty components free of charge.
