Malaysian Minister of Agriculture Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob said Tuesday that more than 1,000 categories of Malaysian halal products will enter the Chinese market in 2014.

Currently, 200 categories of Malaysian halal products have entered. An increase is expected this year to reach 1,000 categories, including products of beverages, frozen foods, herbs. These products will be delivered to the provinces and cities through Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shannxi Province, as a halal products base in the country.

In 2015, Malaysia's exports of halal products to China will reach more than 3,000 categories, according to the minister.

The expansion of Malaysian halal products in the Chinese market is one of the result of the trade and economic cooperation agreements signed during Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak's visit to China in June, the minister said.

The minister revealed his ministry planned to hold a trade fair and seminar of Malaysian halal food in October.
