Credit card transactions grow

China's credit card transactions totaled 13.1 trillion yuan ($2.1 trillion) in 2013, up 30.9 percent from a year earlier, the China Banking Association said in a report issued Thursday.

Credit card transactions accounted for 55.8 percent of China's total retail sales in 2013, up 7.7 percentage points from a year ago, the report said.

About 61 million credit cards were issued in China in 2013, pushing the total number of credit cards to 390 million by the end of 2013, an 18 percent year-on-year growth, according to the report.

Internet credit card fraud led to a losses of 14.11 million yuan in 2013, up 23.4 percent from a year earlier, the report said.
