HK official to promote tourism on Taiwan trip

Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Gregory So will depart for China 's Taiwan Wednesday for a two-day visit to Taipei and Taichung, the Hong Kong government said Tuesday.

Serving in his capacity as vice-chairperson of the Hong Kong- Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council during the visit, So will meet with the Head of the tourism authorities in Taiwan David W J Hsieh in Taipei.

While in Taichung, So will attend a networking function between tourism trade partners from Hong Kong and Taiwan organized by the Taiwan office of the Hong Kong Tourism Board Wednesday evening.

So will give a keynote speech on the directions and promotion strategies for developing Hong Kong tourism at the 2014 Hong Kong- Taichung Intercity Forum co-organized by the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office (Taiwan) and the Taichung City Government on Thursday morning. He will also attend a luncheon hosted by the Taichung City deputy Mayor Tsai Ping-kun.

The Commissioner for Tourism of Hong Kong Philip Yung will accompany So during the visit to the two cities.

So will return to Hong Kong late Thursday evening. Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Godfrey Leung will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during So's absence.
