Germany's SAP AG said yesterday that it booked double-digit growth for its China revenue in the first half of the year, thanks to the strong performance of its cloud computing business, and the recent acquisition of a number of new customers in the high-tech, retail and insurance sectors.
Cloud computing is a national strategic industry in China, which is set to employ 4 million people by next year, according to research firm International Data Corp.
More than 30 startup companies and 50 partner firms across the country have already adopted the SAP HANA cloud platform, Europe's biggest software vendor said in a statement.
Cloud computing allows people to perform computing tasks, such as saving, editing, sharing, and processing data and files using infrastructure in remote locations.
