McDonald's Holdings Co. (Japan) has decided to stop importing all chicken products produced in China after a supplier in Shanghai admitting using rotten meat, local media reported Friday.

McDonald's Japan branches have sourced meat from Shanghai Husi Food Co. since 2002. The fast-food chain has stopped selling chicken McNuggets supplied by Husi at more than 1,300 outlets across Japan after Husi was shut down over high-profile food scandal last Sunday.

"We have made this decision in view of the growing concern over McDonald's chicken products made in China," McDonald's Japan Chief Executive Sarah Casanova said in a statement.

The company said it would switch sourcing completely to Thailand. During the transition period, some products using chicken may be out of stock, said Japan's Kyodo News Agency.
