Customs authority in south China's Guangdong Province had seized 2,069 kilograms of drugs since October 2013 in its campaigns to crack down on drug smuggling.

As of June 15, the authority had cracked 171 drug trafficking cases and arrested 91 suspects since it launched the anti-smuggling campaign in October last year, Luo Yinbo, deputy chief of Guangzhou Customs, said at a press conference on Sunday.

The authority also destroyed more than 500 kilograms of smuggled drugs including heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

Luo said the authority had intensified clampdown on drug trafficking through express mails as more drugs had been trafficked through the channel. He added that such cases accounted for 71 percent of drug smuggling cases this year.
