China's May PPI down 1.4 percent

China's producer price index (PPI) contracted 1.4 percent year on year in May, following a 2-percent decline in April, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Tuesday.

The index, which measures inflation at wholesale level, edged down 0.1 percent in May from the previous month, said the NBS.

China's producer price index (PPI) contracted 2 percent year on year in April, following a 2.3-percent decline in March, pointing to weakness of the economy, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) data showed on Friday.
