Car lovers in Beijing indulged their passion for speed at a sports car carnival hosted by Porsche in the capital from May 15 to 18.

The three-day event showcased the full range of Porsche models, including the 918 Spyder, the 911 Targa and the new Macan S.

"Since its birth, Porsche has strived to build cars that fulfill a dream. Beginning with the 356, the very first Porsche sports car, and continuing to the present full family of Porsche models," said Deesch Papke, president and CEO of Porsche China.

Test drive opportunities were available at the event, and visitors could choose from Boxster, Cayman and 911 models. Escorted drives of the popular Cayenne and Panamera offered people first-hand experience of the models' handling and performance.

Seven race teams sponsored by Porsche China dealers also put on a demonstration, showing impressive vehicle control.

In 2014, after an absence of 16 years, Porsche has returned to Le Mans, and the legendary racing car - 917 KH Coupe - was on show at the event.

The brand also showed how its dedication to dream sports cars translated into corporate social responsibility.

Porsche China has hosted the "Empowering the Future" art contest with Sichuan Fine Arts Institute since 2009.

The competition calls for more attention on education in rural China and winning works from the contest were exhibited at the three-day event.

"Over the years, we have received the support of Porsche enthusiasts and customers and we have witnessed the rapid development of the Porsche brand in China," said Papke.

Porsche sold 37,425 units in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao in 2013, according to the company.
