Chinese smartphone company Smartisan Technology Co unveiled on Tuesday its first smartphone model Smartisan T1 which uses Smartisan OS, a customized operating system based on Google's Android.

The new model, which has a 4.95 inch screen, bigger than the Apple iPhone5s' 4 inch screen, is expected to sell at more than 4,000 yuan ($641.21) without a contract, compared to the latter which is priced at 5288 yuan.

Smartisan Technology, founded in 2012 by Luo Yonghao, a former English teacher at China's leading foreign language training school New Oriental Education & Technology Group, directly competes with other Chinese smartphone makers such as Xiaomi Technology which has gradually found success in the domestic market using its own customized Android OS.
