The China HSBC manufacturing PMI, was also released on Tuesday and it says the sector contracted in March. The final reading of the Markit/HSBC PMI fell to 48 from February's 48.5, the lowest in eight months.

The index mainly focused on small and private companies compared to China's official report and has been below the 50 level since January. That indicates the entire manufacturing sector has declined in the first quarter.

Analysts expect the central government to act soon to stabilize growth. Premier Li Keqiang last week said that the necessary policies are in place and the government would push investment in infrastructure.
