Shenzhen will raise its minimum wage standard by 13 percent in 2014, the Xinhua News Agency reported Sunday, citing data from the local human resources and social security authority.

Starting from February 1, the monthly minimum wage in the city in South China's Guangzhou Province will be increased to 1,808 yuan ($298.86), up from 1,600 yuan a year earlier.

Northwest China's Shaanxi Province will also raise its minimum wage by between 100 yuan and 130 yuan per month on February 1, Xinhua said.
