China's purchasing managers' index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector remained flat at 51.4 percent in November, the highest in the past 19 months, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Sunday.

The figure was same with that of October, which was the highest since May 2012, the statement said.

China's manufacturing PMI had turned stable after rebounding for four consecutive months till November, showing the country's economy started to realize steady growth, the statement said.

A reading below 50 indicates contraction, while that above 50 signals expansion.
