HK's export volume down 0.4 pct in Sept.

In September 2013, the volume of Hong Kong's total exports of goods dropped 0.4 percent, the city's Census and Statistics Department announced Thursday.

According to the department, the volume of Hong Kong's re-exports of goods in September decreased marginally, by 0.1 percent over the same period of last year, while that of domestic exports decreased by 19.3 percent. Taken together, the volume of total exports of goods decreased by 0.4 percent. On the other hand, the volume of imports of goods increased by 0.5 percent.

Comparing the first nine months of 2013 with the same period in 2012, the volume of Hong Kong's re-exports of goods increased by 3.0 percent, whereas that of domestic exports decreased by 9.5 percent. Taken together, the volume of total exports of goods increased by 2.8 percent. Concurrently, the volume of imports of goods increased by 3.9 percent.
