Gold futures on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange dropped for the fifth session in a row Wednesday as investors looked to the Congressional testimony of Federal Reserve Chairwoman nominee Janet Yellen slated for Thursday for hints on Fed's next step.

The most active gold contract for December delivery dropped 2.8 dollars, or 0.22 percent, to settle at 1,268.4 dollars per ounce.
