Hong Kong government expenditure for the April to September period amounted to 201.6 billion HK dollars (26.01 billion U.S. dollars), with 141.5 billion HK dollars in revenue, resulting in a 60.1 billion HK dollars deficit, Hong Kong Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced Thursday.
Fiscal reserves stood at 673.8 billion HK dollars as at Sept. 30.
The bureau said that the deficit was mainly because some major types of revenue, including salaries and profits taxes, are mostly received towards the end of a financial year (1 U.S. dollar equals to 7.75 HK dollar).
