The Ministry of Commerce called for full compliance regarding a WTO ruling against the European Union's anti-dumping measures on Chinese fastening pieces on Wednesday.

Fastening pieces are steel products that attach, or fasten, other steel products to a fixed point.

"The WTO has reviewed the EU's anti-dumping investigation on Chinese-made fastening products and ruled that the EU's anti-dumping measures breached WTO rules," said Shen Danyang, ministry spokesman.

The EU continued to levy high anti-dumping tariffs on fasteners imported from China, according to Shen.

"This has seriously influenced China's exports of fastening products and damaged Chinese industries," said Shen.

Shen said that countries should focus on long-term development and faithfully fulfill commitments to the WTO in a move to maintain the stable and effective operation of the multinational trade system.
