British drug maker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is likely to pull out of China as it faces a hefty penalty of 20 billion yuan ($3.27 billion) amid the Chinese government's bribery investigation, China National Radio reported Monday, citing a company official.

The penalty, roughly tripling GSK's revenues in China in 2012, may have made its retreat from the market, said the report, and if the drug maker agrees to pay to settle the claims, it may face heavy punishment in the UK and the US as well.

GSK is yet to respond to the report.
