A total of 1,146 new companies have been registered in Macao in the second quarter of this year, increasing by 20.7 percent over 2012, according to figures released on Wednesday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
From April to June, registered capital value of the new companies increased by 93.9 percent to 174 million patacas (21.78 million U.S. dollars), with capital from Macao and the Chinese mainland totaling 88 million patacas (11.02 million U.S. dollars) and 40 million patacas (5.01 million U.S. dollars) respectively, the figures indicated.
Among the new incorporations, 390 were operating in wholesale and retail sector and 253 in business services.
Meanwhile, 144 companies dissolved in the second quarter of 2013, and the value of their registered capital mounted to 18 million patacas (2.25 million U.S. dollars), according to the DSEC.
At the end of the second quarter of 2013, the number of registered companies totaled 41,648, an increase of 3,403 from a year earlier.
