China focus on reform and transformation

China's Vice Premier, Zhang Gaoli, says China is beefing up efforts to upgrade its economic structure. Speaking at the on-going 2013 Fortune Global Forum in China's southwestern city of Chengdu, Zhang said China is seeking further reform to open up.

Speaking at the gala dinner ahead of the event, China's Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli said the Chinese government would fast-track efforts to transform its growth model and upgrade economic structure.

Zhang Gaoli, Chinese Vice Premier, said, "We must pursue long term development through economic transformation. We will work to accomplish the mission of adjusting the structure, shifting the development model and facilitating economic transition."

The Vice Premier also says China will roll out more regional blueprints for Central and Western China, in a bid to address income disparity and development imbalance. He's re-affirmed the country's determination to further the country's reform and opening up.

Zhang Gaoli, Chinese Vice Premier, said, "We will form a unified market system with fair, open and equal rules, and deepen reforms in the administrative system, public finance and taxation, investment, state-owned companies and the pricing mechanism. We will embrace a more active strategy to open up the market and build an open economic structure."

Zhang has also highlighted China's efforts to create a friendly environment for foreign investors and visitors, and pledges an increased focus on public welfare and environment protection.
