More consumption tax

2013-05-31 13:11 Global Times     Web Editor: qindexing comment

China is considering extending a consumption tax to more high-end consumer goods and products that make heavy use of resources or cause serious environmental pollution, financial news agency AAStocks reported Thursday, quoting an unnamed official from the Ministry of Finance. So far there is no timeline for launch of the extended tax, the official said.

Currently China levies consumption taxes on products such as cigarettes, liquor, cosmetics and jewelry.
