Baidu, SFDA team up on drug search

Baidu.com, China's largest search engine, has partnered with the country's pharmaceutical watchdog to clean up online search data related to medicines and online drugstores in a bid to crack down on false information.

The service allows people to see detailed information provided by the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) about medicine specifications and licensed drug producers when they search for medicines on Baidu.

Qihoo 360, which launched its search engine last August, previously criticized Baidu as a provider of false medical information and announced Thursday that it will cooperate with People's Daily search engine jike.com, which also allows access to medical information provided by the SFDA.
