EC to put Chinese solar panels on watch list

2013-02-22 16:06 CNTV     Web Editor: yaolan comment

Several EU diplomats have spoken anonymously to the media, divulging that EU member states have approved an European Commission plan to register solar panels from China on sanction list. This would be the latest step toward duties on the 21 billion euro, or 28.08 billion US dollars import market.

The solar panel import market is one of the biggest trade areas the Commission has ever tackled. Politicians have warned tensions between the EU and China, its second largest trading partner, could erupt into a trade war. The newly approved proposal would allow duties to be placed retroactively on China and its companies if they were found to have sold panels at less than the cost of making them.
