Hong Kong-based real estate giant Swire Properties set a record price per square foot for an apartment in Hong Kong and even in Asia, against the backdrop of Hong Kong authorities' efforts to curb soaring property prices.

According to Hong Kong-based newspaper South China Morning Post Tuesday, Swire's luxury residential flat at Opus Hong Kong, architect Frank Gehry's first Asian residential building in Hong Kong's expensive residential area Mid-Levels East, was sold for HK$455 million ($58.71 million), or HK$68,083 per square foot (HK$732,573 per square meter).
