881 companies registered in Macao in Q1

A total of 881 new companies have been registered in Macao in the first quarter of this year, increasing by 14.7 percent from a year earlier, according to figures released on Wednesday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

From January to March, registered capital value of the new companies rose by 151 percent to 199 million patacas ($25 million), with capital from Macao, Taiwan and the Chinese mainland totaling 68.79 million patacas, 50.34 million patacas and 27.31 million patacas, respectively, the figures indicated.

In the first quarter of 2012, there were 130 companies in dissolution and the value of registered capital mounted to 31.41 million patacas, of which registered capital of 48 wholesale and retail and 16 real estate companies in dissolution accounted for 55.6 percent, according to the DSEC.
