Mu Xin once said he was a Shaoxing Greek.

Sunset at hometown

In 2006, Mu Xin's book Inverted Image of Columbia made its successful debut on mainland China, and earned recognition in his motherland.

Chen Danqing, a student of Mu and a brilliant artist, contributed his efforts to the publication of this book, and says if he were only able to complete one thing in his future life, he would choose to promote his teacher's literature and painting in the world.

In the same year, thanks to the warm invitation of Wu Zhen, Mu Xin finished his sojourn in New York and settled down in his hometown.

Due to a worsening lung infection, Mu Xin was sent to hospital this autumn. Mr. Mu had neither wife nor children, but he was not alone. When Mu was very sick at hospital, a dozen young readers volunteered to tend to him there and watched over him until the last minute of his life. These young people came from New York, Beijing, Shanghai and the provinces of Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang.

"Human beings have two systems, physical and spiritual. My roots are in Wuzhen, Shaoxing. I can speak good Shaoxing dialect, but my spiritual tradition is in ancient Greece." Mu Xin once said of himself years ago during an interview with the Southern People Weekly years ago, "Thus, I would like to say I am a Shaoxing Greek."
