South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Wednesday saw a possibility for U.S. President Donald Trump to make a "positive response" to talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Blue House of South Korea said.

Moon made the remarks during a meeting with the heads of the five major political parties, including the governing Democratic Party and the main opposition Liberty Korea Party, according to a pool report from the Blue House.

He said the Korean Peninsula entered a very significant phase to denuclearize and build peace, noting that he had closely consulted with Trump in the process of coming to the current point.

Given the global media reports and the Twitter comments, Moon said, President Trump probably may have positively seen the result of South Korean envoys' visit to the DPRK.

Trump told reporters in Washington that the statements from South Korea and the DPRK "have been very positive," indicating his initial response to the DPRK's dialogue overtures.
