The Chinese Consulate-General in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Monday confirmed that a Chinese national was killed in a gun attack in Karachi.

The consulate-general said that the deceased, accompanied by a Chinese friend, was gunned down in Zamzama area of Karachi, the capital city of the country's south Sindh province.

Local media cited police as reporting that the deceased stopped his car near a vegetable shop when he was on his way back home after attending a lunch. His friend left the car to buy vegetable when some unknown gunmen appeared and sprayed bullets at his vehicle.
