France's biggest rock star, Johnny Hallyday, died at 74 from lung cancer on Wednesday, AFP reported citing his wife.
"Johnny Hallyday has left us. I write these words without believing them. But yet, it's true. My man is no longer with us," said Laeticia Hallyday in a statement.
Hallyday broke from France's classic "chanson" tradition in the late 1950s, earning the title of "The French Elvis", and sold more than 100 million albums.
